Justin Fields was blindsided by a benching and vowed to become an NFL starter again while sending mixed signals about staying with the New York Jets despite being under contract through 2026. Tyrod Taylor replaced Fields and will start against the Atlanta Falcons after coach Aaron Glenn sought more production from a passing attack ranked 32nd in yards. Fields signed a two-year, $40 million deal with $30 million guaranteed in March expecting a full season to prove himself. This marks the second consecutive season Fields has been replaced midseason; he took about a day-and-a-half to accept the role and called the moment of realization a 'Damn' moment.
