Jets' Cook stays QB1 even with vets on way back
"I feel like I'm going to continue to evaluate [Cook] and see exactly how he's going to operate on a consistent basis,"
"We'll see how they progress during the week to see who actually will be the two or the three,"
"Because those guys are coming back from injury, I want to make sure t"
The New York Jets are keeping undrafted rookie Brady Cook as their quarterback while using the final three games to evaluate him. Cook has played the last seven quarters after Tyrod Taylor and Justin Fields missed time with groin and knee injuries. The Jets released practice-squad quarterback Adrian Martinez and appear prepared to let Taylor (pending free agent) and Fields (possible cap casualty) pursue other opportunities next season. The Jets are 3-11 and were eliminated from playoff contention on Dec. 7. Coach Aaron Glenn plans to monitor Cook and the returning veterans during the week to determine roster roles.
