Indiana's House Ways and Means Committee unanimously approved an amendment to State Bill 27 (24-0) that would create the Northwest Indiana Stadium Authority to enable a new Bears stadium in Hammond. The authority would have power to issue bonds, acquire land, and finance construction for a proposed domed venue near the Wolf Lake area. The Bears committed to completing site-specific due diligence and expressed appreciation to Governor Mike Braun, Speaker Huston, Senator Mishler, and the Indiana General Assembly for establishing a framework. Wolf Lake straddles the Illinois-Indiana border along I-90, about 25 minutes south of Soldier Field.
