"Chances are Arthur Blank will not fire Raheem Morris and Terry Fontenot during the season. It is not his style, after all, as the only time the Falcons' owner has done so was during 2020 after he took a big risk in keeping Dan Quinn and Thomas Dimitroff around and watched them go 0-5 to open the season. That's especially true because he generally doesn't fire any coach before three seasons have passed,"
"If the solution he hits on involves jettisoning the team's current brain trust, likely with Jeff Ulbrich taking on interim duties, so that he can hire a brand new general manager and head coach and get a jump on the search, Blank will likely do it after this upcoming game. The reason for that is simple enough: The Falcons can't realistically expect to fire Morris and have it land well with the team with a game just a few days away."
Arthur Blank usually avoids midseason firings and typically waits at least three seasons before dismissing a head coach. Raheem Morris is 12-18 and Terry Fontenot has overseen five years without a winning season and a 33-48 overall record. Fan apathy and loss of national respect have increased as roster expectations went unmet. Blank may still decide to jettison the current brain trust to hire a new general manager and head coach. Firing after the upcoming Thursday game would give an interim coach, likely Jeff Ulbrich, about a week and a half to prepare for the final three games.
