How the 49ers' 2025 season reenergized Kyle Shanahan
"It was the first time he openly said to the team, 'We can win a Super Bowl,' fullback Kyle Juszczyk said. 'That was a huge moment. ... I feel like that showed how Kyle has been energized by how we have developed this season and how we have responded to everything that's happened. Early in the season, he was like, 'I don't know what type of team we are.' And once we clinched it, he's like, 'I know exactly what team we are.'"
"'We can win a Super Bowl,'"
Four days before Christmas and the night before playing the Colts, Kyle Shanahan told the 49ers their return to the postseason was official. The team experienced an injury-plagued 6-11 drop-off in 2024 and endured a massive offseason roster overhaul, making the clinch more meaningful. Shanahan had avoided discussing the postseason for eight months but, after the clinch, openly said the team could win a Super Bowl. Fullback Kyle Juszczyk said Shanahan appeared energized and more certain of the team’s identity after seeing how the roster developed and responded to adversity.
