Herbert: Hand sore but X-rays were 'mostly clean'
"clean for the most part,"
"In the moment I think that was the best thing that I could have done for the team, he said. There's a world where it is effective, maybe I'm staying on my feet and getting more yards."
"I missed a lot of throws and played uncharacteristically, he said Wednesday. There's a bunch of plays that I'd love to have back."
"It's unfortunate that we didn't play to the expectations that we hold for ourselves, but I thought we did a great job battling all four quarters and in overtime because it looked pretty grim there for a while."
Postgame X-rays on Justin Herbert's fractured left hand came back clean for the most part after precautionary tests following the Eagles game. Herbert was a limited participant in practice after undergoing surgery a week earlier. He rushed for a team-high 66 yards on 10 carries, converted three scrambles for first downs and gained 12 yards in overtime while stiff-arming Reed Blankenship. Herbert reported significant soreness but did not regret the play. He completed 46.2% of passes for 139 yards, threw an interception, lost a fumble, and described his passing as uncharacteristic with plays he'd like back.
