Gay sports reporter's hilarious on-air comment about quarterback goes viral
""I feel like we're live in South Boston right now!""
""You know what? As a gay man, I also am gay for Maye,""
""That's honestly a great moment. Reads the room, leans into it, and keeps it light without feeling forced. Crowd loved it, and it came off genuine instead of awkward.""
Colton Bradford, an Emmy-winning LGBTQ+ journalist, was reporting in South Boston ahead of the New England Patriots' AFC Championship game in Denver. He encountered fervent Patriots fans chanting "Gay for Maye" for quarterback Drake Maye and responded on-air by joking that, as a gay man, he was also gay for Maye. Social media users praised Bradford for reading the room and keeping the moment light and genuine. Bradford joined NBC10 Boston as an anchor in July 2022 after co-hosting "The Hub Today" and began broadcasting on radio at age 16 in Mobile, Alabama. The Patriots won 10-7 to reach Super Bowl LX against the Seattle Seahawks on February 8 in Santa Clara.
