Drew Bledsoe is on his way to Boston - and he wants to drink wine with you.
"one of the best surprises for me watching Netflix's "The Roast of Tom Brady" was Drew Bledsoe. The former Patriots quarterback was unexpectedly hilarious. Apparently, I learn here, his wife Maura is, too. "When most people lose their jobs, they start drinking. I started a winery. It's called Doubleback. It's named after what Tom does every time he walks past a mirror," Bledsoe deadpanned at the podium. "My favorite wine is our world-class cabernet. Tom's favorite whine is 'Where's the flag?!'""
"Bledsoe tells me he wrote roughly two-thirds of the material, workshopping it in front of his kids and Maura. At one workshopping session, he says, "Maura was sitting there, and [after I told that flag joke] she goes, 'He got used to not being touched, just like the end of his marriage.'" Bledsoe used that one. (Solid burn, Maura.)"
Drew Bledsoe lives in a remote Whitefish, Montana cabin that doubled as his offseason retreat during his playing career and is currently filled with dogs and limited cell coverage. He performed at Netflix's The Roast of Tom Brady with largely self-written material, delivering deadpan lines about starting his Doubleback winery after leaving football and joking about Tom Brady's flag habits. He workshopped roughly two-thirds of the roast material with his wife Maura and their children; Maura contributed sharp one-liners that he used. The Bledsoes planned a Boston visit and an Oct. 15 dinner inviting local wine lovers.
