Drake Maye takes home AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors
"This marks the first time that a Patriots player has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week since Dion Lewis secured the honors after scoring two touchdowns and rushing for 129 yards in a Week 16 win over the Bills in December 2017. Maye was once again efficient and effective in New England's 33-15 win over the Giants on Monday Night Football."
"Maye stands as just the third QB in league history under the age of 24 to record at least 10 games in a season with at least 200 yards passing and a passer rating of more than 100.0 - joining Patrick Mahomes (13 games in 2018) and Matthew Stafford (10 games in 2011). Ironically, the 37-year-old Stafford might be Maye's top competitor for league MVP."
"Through 13 games this season, Maye is completing 71.5 percent of his throws for a league-high 3,412 passing yards to go along with 23 touchdowns and six interceptions. Maye's accolade marks the second week in a row where a Patriots player has taken home Player of the Week honors. After New England's 26-20 win over the Bengals on Nov. 23, rookie kicker Andy Borregales was recognized as the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week after converting on four field goals."
Drake Maye led the Patriots to a 33-15 victory over the Giants, completing 24 of 31 passes for 282 yards and two touchdowns. Maye was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week after helping New England extend its winning streak to 10 games. The honor represents the first AFC Offensive Player of the Week for a Patriots player since Dion Lewis in December 2017. Through 13 games Maye is completing 71.5 percent of his passes for a league-high 3,412 yards with 23 touchdowns and six interceptions. Maye joins Patrick Mahomes and Matthew Stafford as young QBs with ten 200-yard, 100+ passer rating games, placing him in MVP conversation.
