Chris Grier and the Miami Dolphins mutually parted ways on Friday, with owner Steve Ross announcing the decision and thanking Grier for 26 years of contributions. Champ Kelly will serve as interim general manager. Mike McDaniel will remain head coach at least through the remainder of the season. Grier joined the franchise in 2000 and progressed from scout to director of college scouting to general manager in 2016, becoming the top football decision-maker during the 2019 rebuild. The team pursued an all-in roster build after McDaniel's 2022 arrival, signing high-priced veterans including Tyreek Hill, Terron Armstead, Bradley Chubb and Jalen Ramsey. The Dolphins reached the playoffs in 2022 and 2023 but finished 8-9 in 2024 and started 2-7 in 2025.
