Dolphins' De'Von Achane has positive outlook for Steelers game after injury scare
"McDaniel said Monday, back at team facilities in Miami Gardens, Achane doesn't need anything beyond treatment and rest in order to play through his new rib injury in next week's game against the Steelers in Pittsburgh on "Monday Night Football." McDaniel said Achane is looking forward to playing against the Steelers, as he was adamant Sunday he could've gone back out onto the field despite his discomfort."
"Achane ran off tackle down the right side for a pickup of 29 yards. Achane was seen receiving medical attention in the team's injury tent on the sideline. Then, he emerged from the tent to walk slowly to the locker room alongside trainers. He returned to the sideline for the second half with a helmet on and long coat over his body."
"After Sunday's win at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, McDaniel said Achane could've re-entered in the event of an emergency, as team medical staff had confirmed on site there was no fracture. He wasn't needed, though, as Miami was always up multiple touchdowns in the 34-10 victory. Meanwhile, fellow running back Jaylen Wright was having a career day running behind the Dolphins' stout blocking up front from an offensive line that has been on a tear."
De'Von Achane suffered a new rib injury after landing on the ball on his final first-half play but had no fracture confirmed by team medical staff. An MRI was performed and coaching staff indicated treatment and possible rest should allow him to play versus the Steelers on Monday Night Football. Achane had 92 yards on seven carries with a touchdown before exiting. The Dolphins won 34-10, with Jaylen Wright posting a career day (24 carries, 107 yards, first regular-season touchdown) behind a strong offensive line during the winning stretch.
