In the Sept. 29 "Monday Night Football" win over the New York Jets, Waller, after missing the first three games of the season, caught two touchdowns among his three receptions on four targets."
"You have a plan and then you don't, and you have to just make sure that you don't overcook him. Realistically, for him too, I think he was fired up to get that game, to feel good about the game, to win the game, and then to get through it because then you can approach the next week with more knowns."
Darren Waller scored two touchdowns in his Dolphins debut against the New York Jets after missing the first three games of the season. The Dolphins travel to MetLife Stadium for a rematch with that divisional foe while coach Mike McDaniel weighs exploiting the matchup and limiting Waller's reps as he returns from injured reserve for a pectoral ailment. Waller caught two first-quarter passes in a recent 21-17 win over the Saints but was targeted only once thereafter. Opponents adjusted coverage, taking him away and creating opportunities for Jaylen Waddle and Greg Dulcich. McDaniel emphasized avoiding overuse and progressing week-to-week.
