Deflated LaFleur deflects job talk after Pack loss
"With all due respect to your question, now's not the time for that,"
"I'm just hurting for these guys. I can only think about what just happened, and there will be time for that."
"It means everything to me. This is the greatest organization in the world, in my opinion. It's very humbling. I'm certainly disappointed right now, disappoint"
Matt LaFleur expressed a desire to remain the Green Bay Packers coach but declined to say whether he expects to return next season after the 31-27 wild-card loss to the Chicago Bears. The Packers blew an 18-point lead in that game and finished the regular season having lost five straight after a 9-3-1 start, with starters rested in the finale. LaFleur and general manager Brian Gutekunst each have one year remaining on their contracts, and team president Ed Policy prefers avoiding lame-duck situations. LaFleur holds a 76-40-1 regular-season record and has guided the team to the playoffs six of seven seasons, but the team has not reached a Super Bowl or a conference championship since 2020.
