"One o'clock. Sunday. 1 p.m."
"I don't use that term loosely."
"a dog"
""I think when he's out there on the field, you feel his energy, you feel his presence when he touches the football," McLaurin said. "You see guys are maybe a little bit hesitant to come up and make plays on him because of how physical he is with his yards after the catch and his ability to lower his shoulder and make guys miss.""
The Washington Commanders acquired Deebo Samuel for a fifth-round draft pick as he enters the final year of his contract. The team expects Samuel to rebound from a 2024 season hindered by illness and to provide a stronger receiving counterweight to Terry McLaurin. Samuel previously filled gadget roles in San Francisco, lining up in the backfield and taking screens and jet sweeps. Limited practice time with McLaurin has still produced high praise, with McLaurin calling Samuel "a dog" and noting his physicality and yards-after-catch ability. Sunday's opener against the Giants will show Samuel's fit in Kliff Kingsbury's scheme.
