Dave Hyde: Can Ollie Gordon solve a problem for this Miami Dolphins offense?
Briefly

Ollie Gordon grew so large as a youth that his mother had to bring his birth certificate to games to prove he was not too old to play. He models his running back style on Derrick Henry and measures 6-1 and 233 pounds as a rookie. Preseason injuries have sidelined De'Von Achane (calf), Alexander Mattison (season-ending), and Jaylen Wright (practice injury), creating openings at running back. Gordon has moved up from reserve second-half duty and is likely to run with starters in upcoming games. He lowers his shoulder and consistently drives defenders downfield.
MIAMI GARDENS - Here's a story that tells why Ollie Gordon might answer a nagging Miami Dolphins problem: His mother had to bring his birth certificate to youth football games to prove her oversized son wasn't too old to play. This wasn't when he was starting out in football, either. "I was 15," he said. His running back role model by then was Derrick Henry, the Baltimore Ravens' 250-pound running back. "Physical, tough," the 6-1, 233-pound rookie said of Henry. "I like that."
Three more Miami Dolphins left the field Thursday during a joint practice with Jacksonville, including running back Jaylen Wright, who walked slowly to the locker room with a trainer. Starting running back De'Von Achane already is on the shelf with a calf injury. Alexander Mattison, a veteran free agent, was lost for the season in the preseason game against Chicago. Throw in Wright and three backs expected to contribute were injured in different manners this summer.
