Commanders lose Deatrich Wise Jr. for season, brace for bad news on Austin Ekeler
""It was a tough game from the injury standpoint," Quinn said."
""That kind of takes the fight out of you a little bit," wide receiver D"
Starting defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr. will miss the remainder of the 2025 season after suffering a right quadriceps injury that requires season-ending surgery. The injury occurred when a Packers lineman fell into the back of his right leg on an extra-point attempt in the second quarter of Washington's 27-18 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Starting running back Austin Ekeler is feared to have torn his right Achilles tendon in a noncontact incident and could be headed to season-ending injured reserve. Six Commanders starters were injured and four did not return. Tight end John Bates and wide receiver Noah Brown exited early with groin injuries. Cornerback Trey Amos and left guard Brandon Coleman missed time with shoulder issues but later returned, and cornerback Jonathan Jones dealt with a hamstring issue. Coach Dan Quinn said players will undergo further testing and that more information will be available Monday.
