The Washington Commanders face heightened competition for roster spots during head coach Dan Quinn’s tenure, driven by offseason efforts from general manager Adam Peters. A key position battle has emerged quickly during organized team activities, centered on the kicking role. Veteran Jake Moody holds the lead after signing another one-year deal, but undrafted rookie Drew Stevens has the potential to change the situation. Quinn expects a legitimate competition between the experienced kicker and the first-year player. In their first OTA practice, Stevens made all six field goal attempts, including a 53-yard kick, showing notable power. Moody went 5-for-6 and also hit a 53-yard attempt, keeping the battle close.
"Not to be outdone, Moody was 5-for-6 in his efforts. He also drilled his 53-yarder, which was encouraging. However, the Ohio State product should have clarity about how hard it's going to be in pursuit of keeping Stevens out of his No. 1 spot before Week 1 rolls around."
