Christian Gonzalez is reminding Patriots of dominant fan favorite of the past
"The New England Patriots drafted cornerback Christian Gonzalez with the 17th overall pick in the 2023 draft after he inexplicably slipped for some reason. After being injured and only playing four games in 2023, Gonzalez has proven to be a lockdown No. 1 cornerback who should get a contract extension after this season. Now, in the 2025 playoffs, he's equalling Stephon Gilmore's 2018 record of allowing a 0.0 passer rating in the fourth quarters during one postseason."
"In the Patriots' Super Bowl 2025 season, Gonzalez has excelled. He earned his first Pro Bowl invitation and racked up solid numbers. He had 69 total stops with one tackle for loss and 10 passes defended. Yet, he's also making his mark in the 2025 playoffs. In three playoff games, the Patriots' Pro Bowl Cornerback Christian Gonzalez has been living up to a very lofty past Patriots' standard."
Christian Gonzalez was selected 17th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft after slipping and played only four games his rookie year due to injury. Gonzalez started 16 games in 2024 and 14 in 2025 and earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2024 despite a 4-13 team record. Gonzalez recorded 69 total stops, one tackle for loss, and 10 passes defended in the 2025 regular season and earned a first Pro Bowl selection. In the 2025 playoffs he allowed a 0.0 passer rating in fourth quarters, equalling Stephon Gilmore's 2018 mark, and formed a top cornerback tandem with Carlton Davis III as the Patriots reached their first Super Bowl since 2018.
