Chiefs' Travis Kelce says fiancee Taylor Swift influenced return
"We share the same love for what we do, and fortunately we've had this desire since we were kids in our selective professions. It's amazing to see her keep going to the table, keep finding new things to write about, keep finding new melodies and, on top of that, still seeing her have that love and joy in what she does."
"Of course, that's motivating. That's motivating for anybody to see, let alone my fiancée, knowing that I'm going through something where I'm trying to figure out exactly what the future holds for me. Something like that definitely motivates me to say, 'You know what, I'm not done, either.' I've still got some ideas in the back of my mind and still got some juice left to play this game."
Travis Kelce agreed to a one-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs worth $12 million with a maximum value of $15 million. The star tight end attributed his decision to return partly to the inspiration he draws from his fiancée Taylor Swift's commitment to her music career. Kelce emphasized how witnessing Swift's passion, creativity, and joy in her work motivated him to continue playing despite being 36 years old. Last season, Kelce led the Chiefs in multiple statistical categories including targets, receptions, yards, and touchdowns. Though he was an unrestricted free agent with interest from other teams, Kelce chose to remain with the Chiefs and coach Andy Reid, his only coach throughout his NFL career.
