Joe Hortiz said he is hopeful running back Najee Harris will play Week 1 after spending training camp on the Non-Football Injury/illness list. Harris landed on the NFI list following a July 4 fireworks mishap that Harris's agent described as causing a "superficial" eye injury. The Chargers have not publicly detailed the injury. Coach Jim Harbaugh has declined to provide updates and typically withholds injury information until the league requires disclosures the week before Week 1. Hortiz said Harris is undergoing medical processes and is on track to be available for Week 1.
"Najee's doing great, going through all the medical processes,"
"But he's on track, and I think he should be able to go, hopefully in Week 1."
"When Najee's ready to play, he'll be ready to play,"
"Right now, to take it past today would be going over the legal limit."
