A bullet was fired into Andy Reid's office at the Kansas City Chiefs facility in May while he was inside. The projectile broke through glass, left a hole in the window, and lodged 15 feet in a wall between his bathroom and office door. The team installed bulletproof glass soon afterward. Two additional bullets struck the facility, one hitting the third floor and another an outdoor air-conditioning unit. Few people knew. Police are treating the case as an aggravated assault. No arrests or charges have been made, and there is no indication the shots were targeted.
The Star, citing multiple sources, reported Reid was working alone in his office in early May 2024 when a bullet fired from outside the building broke through glass and left a hole in the window and blinds. It eventually lodged 15ft from where Reid was sitting, in a wall between his bathroom and his office door. The Chiefs installed bulletproof glass soon afterward.
The Star reported two more bullets hit the facility, with one striking the third floor and another an outdoor air-conditioning unit. Few people people in the organization knew about the incident. A Chiefs spokesman declined comment on Wednesday night. Reid's next media availability is slated to be Friday night after Kansas City's home game against the Chicago Bears, the final preseason game for both teams.
