Cleveland trailed Tennessee 31-17 with six minutes remaining when rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders mounted a comeback with two touchdown drives. Sanders scored on a 7-yard run but fumbled the center exchange on an earlier 2-point attempt. After Sanders' 7-yard touchdown with 1:03 left, the Browns left him on the sideline and ran a Wildcat direct snap with rookie Quinshon Judkins, who mishandled the ball and then threw an incomplete pass across the field to Gage Larvadain. Head coach Kevin Stefanski said he decided on the Wildcat play, accepted responsibility for the call, and noted offensive coordinator Tommy Rees had playcalling duties after the bye.
