Brian Callahan fired as Titans head coach. Former UCLA walk-on started season 1-5
"While we are committed to a patient and strategic plan to build a sustainable, winning football program, we have not demonstrated sufficient growth,"
"Our players, fans, and community deserve a football team that achieves a standard we are not currently meeting, and we are committed to making the hard decisions necessary to reach and maintain that standard."
Brian Callahan was dismissed as head coach of the Tennessee Titans after a 1-5 start this season with rookie quarterback Cam Ward, the top overall pick, under center, leaving Callahan with a 4-19 overall record. The organization cited insufficient growth and a commitment to making difficult decisions to build a sustainable, winning football program. Callahan played and coached at UCLA, won a Super Bowl as a Denver assistant in 2015, served as quarterbacks coach for Detroit and Oakland, and was Cincinnati’s offensive coordinator in 2019. Mike Vrabel, previously fired by the Titans, now leads the New England Patriots into Nashville. An interim head coach has not been named.
