The Cincinnati Bengals signed veteran guard Dalton Risner after he worked out for the team. Risner, 30, was a 2019 second-round pick and has 81 career starts, including eight at right guard. Cincinnati has not named a starter at right guard, with veterans Cody Ford and Lucas Patrick taking first-team reps in training camp. Projected backup Cordell Volson suffered a season-ending shoulder injury and was placed on injured reserve, prompting the workout and signing. The team waived defensive tackle Eric Gregory to create roster space for Risner as it addresses offensive-line depth and injuries.

The Bengals announced Thursday that they signed veteran guard Dalton Risner, who had been linked to the team since he tried out for Cincinnati last week. The Bengals and Risner made things official with Cincinnati dealing with injuries and questions about the right side of the offensive line. Risner, 30, was originally a second-round pick by the Denver Broncos in 2019 and spent the last two seasons with the Minnesota Vikings. He has 81 career starts, including eight at right guard.
