"Najee Harris was present at a 4th of July event where a fireworks mishap resulted in injuries to several attendees. Najee sustained a superficial eye injury during the incident, but is fully expected to be ready for the upcoming NFL season."
Najee Harris has been cleared to participate in full-contact practice and is a possibility to play in the Los Angeles Chargers' season opener in Brazil against the Kansas City Chiefs. Harris suffered a superficial eye injury during a July 4 fireworks mishap in Antioch that injured multiple people and prompted some hospitalizations. The injury placed him on the non-football injury/illness list and limited him to sideline work with a personal trainer during camp. Vision was not affected and the injury is described as superficial. Harris has not missed any NFL games since being drafted in 2021. Coach Jim Harbaugh praised Harris' practice awareness and performance, and the player's agent confirmed an expectation that he will be ready for the season.
