Craig was the first player ever to have 1,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards receiving in the same season, which happened in 1985, and he led the NFL with 2,036 yards from scrimmage in 1988 when he helped the 49ers win the Super Bowl."

Nine seniors semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026 include former MVP Ken Anderson, running back Roger Craig and former AFL star Otis Taylor. A blue-ribbon committee reduced the list from 34 candidates whose last professional game was in 2000. The committee will cut the list to three finalists who will advance to full selection committee voting before the Super Bowl. There will also be 15 modern-era finalists, one coach and one contributor. Between four and eight new members will be elected in this second-year format. Other semifinalists are Henry Ellard, Stanley Morgan, Steve Tasker, L.C. Greenwood, Joe Jacoby and Eddie Meador. Returning finalists Maxie Baughan and Jim Tyrer were eliminated.
