"Gore covered the third-most rushing yards in NFL history with 16,000 over a 16-year career, the first decade of which was spent becoming the 49ers' all-time leading rusher. Enshrined last season in the 49ers' Edward J. DeBartolo Sr. 49ers Hall of Fame, Gore played for the Indianapolis Colts, the Miami Dolphins, the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets before retiring in 2021, and he's now in his third season as a 49ers personnel advisor."

Frank Gore and Alex Smith are among first-year nominees for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Gore accumulated 16,000 rushing yards, third-most in NFL history, and became the 49ers' all-time leading rusher during his first decade. Gore later played for the Colts, Dolphins, Bills and Jets, retired in 2021, and currently serves as a 49ers personnel advisor. Smith, the No. 1 overall 2005 pick, returned the 49ers to playoff contention in 2011-12 and finished his career with notable stops in Kansas City and Washington. Numerous other former 49ers are among 128 nominees. The selection process narrows nominees to 50, then 25 semifinalists, with the final class announced on Feb. 8 at Levi's Stadium.
