The San Francisco 49ers trimmed their quarterback roster to Brock Purdy and Mac Jones following preseason cuts. Carter Bradley and Tanner Mordecai were waived with injury designations after sustaining ankle injuries in the preseason finale against the Los Angeles Chargers. Purdy appeared in one preseason series, an 11-play drive ending in a field goal Aug. 23 against the Las Vegas Raiders. Jones suffered a knee injury in that game, did not play Saturday, and is expected to return to practice. The team waived defensive linemen Jaylon Allen and Shakel Brown and released running back Ke'Shawn Vaughn. Brian Robinson Jr. practiced in a No. 30 jersey after his trade from Washington became official Sunday. Offensive tackle Isaiah Prince was placed on Injured Reserve with a knee injury sustained late in the preseason finale.

Purdy played only one series in the preseason, an 11-play drive that culminated in a field goal Aug. 23 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Jones sustained a knee injury in that game and did not play Saturday but is expected back at practice. The 49ers made other moves ahead of Tuesday's 1 p.m. deadline for an initial 53-man roster. Waived were defensive linemen Jaylon Allen and Shakel Brown. Running back Ke'Shawn Vaughn got released, the same day Brian Robinson Jr. was debuting in practice in a No. 30 jersey after his trade from Washington became official Sunday.
