49ers' Brock Purdy addresses rival team winning Super Bowl in Levi's Stadium
"I mean, obviously, we all wanted that to be us. That was the goal from the beginning of the season. We fell short of that. So, I mean, it is what it is. That's how football operates. That's the NFL. We've got to learn from it, regroup and be ready to attack next year."
"With the injuries we were dealt with, the situation and everything, like, yeah, it was tough. But I'm really proud of a bunch of guys stepping up. Young guys, older guys, you name it. Having new guys come in like Eric Kendricks late in the year. For us to be able to win the way we did as a team was pretty special. But the ultimate goal is to win the whole thing, and we've got work to do."
Brock Purdy coached the Toyota-sponsored flag football game at the Moscone Center featuring Bay Area girls high school players. Purdy acknowledged the 49ers fell short of their Super Bowl goal and emphasized learning from the season, regrouping, and preparing to attack next year. The 49ers finished 13-6 including two playoff games despite heavy injuries to key players such as Fred Warner, Nick Bosa, and Brandon Aiyuk. New additions like Eric Kendricks provided late-season help. The turf toe that cost Purdy four games will not require offseason surgery. Purdy plans to spend most downtime with his wife and newborn daughter.
