Terrance Ferguson, a second-round tight end from Oregon, missed training camp time with a groin injury and spent early season weeks on the scout team and as a healthy scratch. He used scout-team reps to improve technique and familiarity with the Sean McVay offense, which positioned him to contribute when starter Tyler Higbee dealt with a hip injury. Ferguson recorded a 21-yard reception in Week 5 and later had three catches and a touchdown in an overtime loss to Seattle. Through 15 weeks he totaled nine catches for 177 yards and two touchdowns. Rookies emphasized knowing the playbook, staying ready, and avoiding lingering on mistakes.
