Wizards' new-look backcourt may be overshadowing the best part of their roster
"Washington has been aggressive this offseason and with plenty of roster shake up courtesy of general manager Will Dawkins' decisions, the Wizards will look vastly different when the regular season begins. With the additions of CJ McCollum and Tre Johnson in the backcourt, there's plenty of hype surrounding how good the Wizards' new-look backcourt could be. And while that's a fair thought to have, the team's retooled backcourt could be overshadowing just how impactful the team's new-look front court could be."
"Heading into Alex Sarr's sophomore season , Washington has high hopes for the leap that the former No. 2 overall pick can emerge and show flashes of the reason the team selected the French product so high in the 2024 NBA Draft. If Sarr can improve his offensive efficiency and simply prove capable of posing a threat in the paint like a typical 7-foot big man can do,"
Washington made many offseason moves and will field a revamped roster. The backcourt additions of CJ McCollum and Tre Johnson created hype, but the frontcourt may provide the team's biggest improvement. Alex Sarr enters his sophomore season with expectations for improved offensive efficiency and interior presence after a rocky rookie campaign. Cam Whitmore's arrival could be an underrated boost if he fulfills his developmental upside. Rookie wing Will Riley offers polished scoring and high IQ that could translate immediately with minutes. Bilal Coulibaly also projects as a frontcourt contributor amid backcourt depth.
