"Editor's note: We prohibit the use of bots and any other artificial methods of voting. Suspicious activity could lead to the disqualification of candidates and a permanent suspension of the Athlete of the Week poll. No voting by email: Votes by email and after 5 p.m. Wednesday are not counted. For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner."
"Yariah Asidanya, Pittsburg basketball: The junior posted two double-doubles last week. She scored 13 points and posted 10 rebounds with eight steals and three assists in a 41-35 win over Rodriguez, then added a triple-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds, 12 steals, four blocks and two assists in a 45-31 win over Berkeley. Hanna Behnami, Los Gatos basketball: The senior forward paced Los Gatos with 24 points as the Wildcats beat Branham 52-32."

Winners are announced each Friday online and in the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections. Nominees for Dec. 1-6 include Yariah Asidanya (multiple double-doubles and a triple-double with numerous steals and blocks), Hanna Behnami (24 points), Grace Curley (14 points), and Justine Desmidt (16 points, 25 rebounds, four blocks).
