Valkyries activate Cecilia Zandalasini from injury, waive Elizabeth Kitley
"The Valkyries have activated forward Cecilia Zandalasini from injury and have waived center Elizabeth Kitley, the team announced on Monday. Zandalasini has missed the last eight games with a left calf injury she suffered just minutes before the Valkyries' game against the Phoenix Mercury on Aug. 19. Zandalasini is questionable to play in tomorrow's game against the Seattle Storm. According to a release from the team, Zandalasini will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis."
"Prior to her injury, Zandalasini was in the midst of her best scoring stretch of the season. In the nine games she played after the All-Star break, the Italian sharpshooter was averaging 13 points per game on 50% shooting from the field and 48.9% from the 3-point line. Zandalasini has been effective this year when she has been on the floor, but she has played in just 17 games this season."
Cecilia Zandalasini has been activated from a left calf injury and is being evaluated on a day-to-day basis, making her questionable for the upcoming game against the Seattle Storm. Zandalasini missed eight games after suffering the calf injury minutes before the Aug. 19 game versus Phoenix. Elizabeth Kitley, signed last week to a hardship contract, was waived after not appearing in a game. Zandalasini averaged 13 points in nine games after the All-Star break, shooting 50% overall and 48.9% from three, but has played only 17 games this season due to multiple earlier injuries and international duty. Golden State seeks forward depth and could clinch the sixth seed with a win at Seattle.
