UCLA's Mick Cronin apologizes for ejecting player, says he's still 'a good fit' as coach
""The brand matters, the school matters. The last thing I want to do is bring negative publicity to our school. And sometimes - because it's not about me, I don't care what people think about me - I need to do a better job knowing I am the coach here, and I need to make sure I don't do anything to embarrass our school.""
""I know I'm not bigger than the brand,""
""It was kind of a big-time moment," guard Skyy Clark said."
""I don't think, to be honest, the entire world has ever seen that in a game," guard Trent Perry said of the ejection."
UCLA coach Mick Cronin issued an apology for two on-court outbursts and said he remains a good fit for the program. Cronin personally apologized to center Steven Jamerson II after ejecting him mid-game following a hard foul during a blowout loss to Michigan State. Cronin initially thought the foul was "a dirty play" but reversed that view after reviewing game film. Bruins teammates rallied around Jamerson, described him as "a little in his head," and held a players-only meeting to address the incident. Cronin also drew criticism for chiding a reporter about the Michigan State student section.
