Thunder rule out J-Dub for opener as wrist heals
""Thunder coach Mark Daigneault has been consistently vague regarding Williams' timetable to return, saying that he is \"progressing\" and \"right on schedule.\""
""It was a necessary evil to win," Williams recently told ESPN. "I would've cut my hand off to win a championship.""
""Just whenever I feel like I can be a hundred percent, then I'll rock out," Williams said during the preseason. "Part of the process is just figuring out how to get my jump shot back. A lot of it is just trying to get feel back.""
Jalen Williams has been ruled out of the Oklahoma City Thunder's season opener against the Houston Rockets as he recovers from offseason surgery on his right wrist. Thunder coach Mark Daigneault described Williams as progressing and right on schedule but offered no firm timetable for a return. Williams tore the scapholunate ligament on April 9 and delayed surgery until after the championship run, relying on nearly 30 pain-killing injections during the playoffs while averaging 21.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. Williams signed a maximum extension this summer, did not begin shooting with his right hand until this month, and said he will return when he feels one hundred percent and regains feel on his jump shot.
