Thornton selected as Golden State Valkyries first All-Star
Briefly

Kayla Thornton has been selected as the first WNBA All-Star representative for the expansion team Golden State Valkyries. This marks her first All-Star selection in her tenth season. Thornton has played a pivotal role in the team's 9-8 start, averaging 14.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game, both of which are career highs. She has also shown consistency, scoring in double digits in most games and has notable rankings in steals and rebounds. Her performance earned her the WNBA Western Conference Player of the Week honor last month.
"KT is super reliable. She's built confidence through her hard work. I love when people show me that they want to be that person. They just don't talk about it, but KT backs it up with action and that's what I love about her."
"Thornton, who scored the first basket in franchise history, has started all 17 games for Golden State, leading the team in with 14.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Both would be career-highs for Thornton."
