Stewart drops 32 as Mist overcome Plum's 40 to win Unrivaled title
"What I'll remember the most about this Mist team is we might not be the loudest, but we're going to work the hardest. Stewart, who was picked as MVP of the final and whose team will split a $600,000 winners' pool, emphasized the team's work ethic despite not being the most vocal group."
"I think that there was a space that wasn't kind of being used as far as what professional women's basketball players were doing. Stewart explained the motivation behind co-founding Unrivaled, identifying a gap in the professional women's basketball calendar that needed to be filled."
"There was complete faith in this group. I'm just glad we got it done. Mist coach Zach O'Brien expressed confidence in the team's ability to win the championship despite their regular season struggles against Phantom."
Breanna Stewart and Mist won the Unrivaled championship, defeating Phantom 80-74 in the second season's final game. Stewart scored 32 points and was named MVP of the final, with her team splitting a $600,000 winners' pool. Despite going 0-2 against Phantom in the regular season, Mist dominated the championship game, with Stewart scoring the team's first 12 points of the second half. Kelsey Plum led Phantom with 40 points on efficient shooting, but it proved insufficient. Stewart, who co-founded Unrivaled with Napheesa Collier, has now won championships at every level: high school state titles, four NCAA championships at UConn, three WNBA titles, three Olympic gold medals, three World Cup golds, two EuroLeague titles, and now this Unrivaled championship.
