""I feel like we should learn is with calves -- make sure they're healthy," Rivers said before Friday's game against the Sixers. "So that may take longer than we want. That even may make Giannis frustrated over it, but we just got to try to get that right.""
""We talked a long time [Thursday]," Rivers said. "When Giannis gets injured, he'll give you his own date. You literally just, you hear it but you don't hear it because to him it's always, I'll be back in a week or I'll be back sooner.""
Giannis Antetokounmpo sustained a strained right calf and is expected to require closer to four weeks to recover, according to coach Doc Rivers. The initial diagnosis estimated a 2-4 week absence, but Rivers emphasized caution and the need to ensure full calf health before returning. The injury occurred about three minutes into a game against the Detroit Pistons after a bump while driving to the basket, and Antetokounmpo was helped off the court. An MRI was performed and Rivers said he spoke at length with Antetokounmpo, who remained in good spirits. The Bucks have seven games in the next three weeks. Antetokounmpo turns 31.
