Patriots rookie Will Campbell stole the show with viral TD Garden moment
"That decision ultimately led to an incredibly memorable moment for Boston sports fans which further endeared many to rookie offensive tackle Will Campbell. When the Garden's jumbotron displayed a shot of the suite occupied by the group of Patriots teammates, Campbell jumped up from his chair, removed his shirt, finished off a beer that was handed to him, spiked the empty cup on the ground, and then waved his arms in excitement to further fire-up the already electric packed house of Celtics faithful. Quarterback Drake Maye can be seen in the top left corner of the clip enjoying the moment for his blindside protector and cheering Campbell along with their fellow Patriots players."
"Those fans were also likely encouraged to see the 2025 fourth overall pick seemingly moving well after an MCL sprain suffered during the Patriots' Week 12 contest against the Cincinnati Bengals landed him on injured reserve. Campbell has yet to practice since first going down with the injury, but head coach Mike Vrabel has said previously it is likely not season-ending. The earliest Campbell could return to the field is for the team's season-finale against the New York Jets."
Patriots offensive linemen postponed their Thursday dinner to attend the Celtics-Heat game at TD Garden, and the suite appeared on the jumbotron. Will Campbell stood, removed his shirt, drank a beer handed to him, spiked the empty cup, and pumped up the crowd while teammates, including Drake Maye, cheered. Campbell is the 2025 fourth overall pick and is on injured reserve after an MCL sprain in Week 12 against the Bengals. He has not practiced since the injury, but coach Mike Vrabel indicated it is likely not season-ending and a return could come in the season finale versus the Jets. Teammate Vederian Lowe said Campbell is working hard, attending film sessions, and staying involved in the game plan.
