Party of 15: Rookie's family hosts Hornets dinner
"Taking the (team) bus down my street, going home, that was weird,"
"And a bunch of NBA players in my house. It was a lot of big people, but my family enjoyed it. My brothers definitely enjoyed it."
"Mason (Plumlee), one of our vets, 35 (years old), year (13 in the NBA) for him. And he was like, 'I've never done this before, never gone to a teammate's house,'"
"They're young and they're so good to my younger sons... It was just a really great life experience, just a core memory."
Kon Knueppel invited the entire Charlotte Hornets team to his Milwaukee family home the night before the game against the Bucks. Knueppel is the oldest of five boys and both parents played college basketball, making a team gathering a familiar environment for the family. Veteran Mason Plumlee revealed he had never visited a teammate's house before, making the event unusual even for long-time players. Knueppel's mother described the players as great with the younger sons and called the visit a core memory. Knueppel scored a career-high 32 points, but the Hornets fell 147-134 in overtime of an NBA Cup game.
