Norman Powell is playing for his future with the Heat in the opening month

At that point, it did seem as if the Heat were going to embrace some sort of youth movement and that the team was going to enter a "gap" year. The trade for Powell doesn't exactly fall in line with that plan. Giving him a contract extension would make even less sense. It would also send an odd message after a summer in which the Heat continued to preach (through the media) financial flexibility for the future."

It would mean Herro's days in a Heat uniform are likely numbered."
