Nets guard Egor Demin sets NBA rookie record with 3-pointer
""He's an NBA coach, so he taught me -- in this one year -- basically whatever I have to know to be able to play at the NBA level," Demin said. "He gave us a lot of knowledge so that I come here and I'm ready to play and I know what we're doing and I have an idea of what it is. He gave me this base of an NBA player to be able to come here and know what's going on around me.""
""Shooting the ball," Demin said ahead of Friday's game against the Jazz. "As simple as it is, just being in the gym and shooting the ball.""
Egor Demin hit a 3-pointer in his 34th straight game, establishing the NBA rookie record on the Nets' first basket against the Jazz. He was 3-for-5 from long distance in the first quarter and scored 11 points early. Drafted eighth overall out of BYU, Demin entered the game with 98 three-pointers this season, second among rookies behind Kon Knueppel, and has the second-most threes through 40 career games while shooting 39.7% from long range. Extra gym work improved his shot, and he credits BYU coach Kevin Young with preparing him for the NBA. He trails Kerry Kittles' Nets rookie mark of 158 threes and holds Nets rookie records for most threes in a game (7) and most games with five or more threes (6).
