"A 6-8 forward drafted 37th overall in the second round of the 2023 draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder and traded to Denver on draft night, he emerged from Clemson as a polished shooter, earning first-team All-ACC honors. In his second NBA season, Tyson has played mostly in a reserve role, appearing in 21 games and averaging 2.2 points and 1.7 rebounds while developing as a floor-spacing wing. He also brings cost control, with a $2.4 million team option for the 2026-27 season."
"The Denver Nuggets are sending Hunter Tyson and a 2032 second-round pick to Brooklyn in exchange for the lesser favorable of the Clippers' or Hawks' 2026 second-round pick. For Denver, the deal opens a roster spot for the buyout market and helps the Nuggets duck the luxury tax. For Brooklyn, it's another swing at upside and draft capital."
Brooklyn made multiple transactions ahead of the trade deadline, acquiring Hunter Tyson from Denver and Josh Minott from Boston while waiving Haywood Highsmith. The Nets earlier completed a multi-team trade that sent Chris Paul to Toronto and brought Ochai Agbaji and a 2032 second-round pick to Brooklyn. Denver sent Tyson plus a 2032 second-round pick to open a roster spot, reduce luxury-tax exposure and gain the lesser of the Clippers' or Hawks' 2026 second-round picks. Tyson is a 25-year-old, 6-8 Clemson wing with reserve NBA experience and a $2.4 million 2026-27 team option. Minott is a 23-year-old, 6-8 forward drafted 45th overall in 2022.
