JJ Redick received a contract extension from the Lakers, announced by president of basketball operations Rob Pelinka at the team training facility in El Segundo. The Lakers added starting center Deandre Ayton in free agency, a major offseason goal. Redick said meetings with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick reinforced that greatness requires daily commitment. Redick reported productive in-person meetings with LeBron James and described LeBron as being in a great mental spot and ready to give his absolute best. The Lakers finished 50-32 last season and enter training camp with practices in El Segundo then a preseason opener in Palm Desert.
