The Buss family sold their majority ownership of the Lakers to Mark Walter in June. That sale, at a $10 billion valuation, was approved by the NBA Board of Governors last month."
The Los Angeles Lakers reorganized their basketball operations department and dismissed executives Joey and Jesse Buss from front office roles effective immediately. Joey and Jesse Buss had served in key scouting positions for the past decade and helped identify players including Austin Reaves, Kyle Kuzma, Jordan Clarkson, Larry Nance Jr., and Max Christie. The brothers said they were honored to be part of the organization for 20 seasons, thanked Laker Nation for embracing their family, and expressed regret about how their tenure ended while retaining minority ownership shares. The Buss family sold majority ownership to Mark Walter in a June transaction valued at $10 billion, approved by the NBA Board of Governors.
