Kansas coach Bill Self plans to return vs. Kansas State
"Peterson, who is widely considered a potential No. 1 NBA draft pick, had 16 points while playing 32 minutes in a 75-69 win over Colorado on Tuesday night. But he was less explosive after turning his ankle, and Self said Thursday that it turned out to be a sprain. "He's got a pretty severe ankle sprain, but fortunately that's all it is, a sprain," Self said."
"Self has had a series of heart ailments, including one three years ago that kept him from coaching in the Big 12 and NCAA tourneys. He had two stents inserted to help treat blocked arteries in that case, then had two more stents inserted last July. Self said he watched the Colorado game on TV on Tuesday night and was back in the office the following day."
Bill Self intends to coach Saturday when No. 19 Kansas visits Kansas State, but Darryn Peterson's playing status is uncertain after an ankle injury. Peterson scored 16 points in the 75-69 win over Colorado but was less explosive after turning his ankle, which Self said is a pretty severe sprain. Peterson previously missed games this season because of cramping. Self experienced abnormal chest pain earlier in the week, received fluids at a hospital, and could not travel with the team to Colorado. Self has a history of heart ailments and prior stent placements but reported feeling good and returned to the office.
