""This is the goodness of people right here," Ansom said, before the finals of the Venice Basketball League kicked off on Sunday night. "Look where we are. We're a legendary place, the most iconic basketball courts in the world. I call it the hoopers' paradise.""
""2K The Clown""
Venice Beach hosted a lively Legends Weekend marking 20 years of boardwalk basketball culture and community, with DJs playing 90s R&B, social influencers, and bright lights. Performers like "2K The Clown" and his posse danced at the half-court logo as the blue and orange sunset faded to night. The weekend honored Kobe Bryant and other late street-ball icons who impacted the boardwalk. Nick Ansom, founder and CEO of Veniceball, rollerskated across the court wearing a plastic orange top hat and served as the central figure sustaining basketball and family traditions. Ken Hicks, who helped start organized Venice basketball in the 1970s, received flowers from Ansom.
