The Lakers rejected including Horton-Tucker in a potential trade for Kyle Lowry in 2021, choosing to extend him instead. Los Angeles later traded Horton-Tucker to the Utah Jazz in summer 2022. The Miami Heat acquired Lowry the following summer by trading Precious Achiuwa to Toronto. Achiuwa has since returned to Miami. Horton-Tucker failed to establish himself in Los Angeles.
