Heat demolish Hawks, 128-97, in Tyler Herro's return
"Miami's win came on the back of guard Tyler Herro, returning to the lineup after missing each of the team's last 15 games with a rib injury. Herro scored a game-high 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting in 23 minutes off the bench - largely staggered with guard Norman Powell. The Heat dominated in the second half, outscoring the Hawks 71-46. The second half - particularly late in games - hasn't always been friendly for Miami this season, which made Friday's winning effort even more joyous."
"The Heat shot 56.9 percent from the floor over the final 24 minutes, canning eight of their 17 3-pointers while recording just two turnovers. Bam Adebayo finished with 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists; Norman Powell tallied 15 points, while Kel'el Ware had a 14-point, 12-rebound double-double. Atlanta was efficient from beyond the arc (16-38 3PA), but it shot just 37.5 percent from the floor, including a ghastly 5-of-30 on non-rim 2s."
"Onyeka Okongwu had a team-high 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting, and CJ McCollum plus Nickeil Alexander-Walker scored 20 points apiece. Johnson, Okongwu, McCollum and Alexander-Walker combined to score 78 of the team's 97 points. The Hawks' bench unit minus McCollum had a very difficult time keeping up with Herro and Co; it remains to be seen whether or not head coach Erik Spoelstra will continue to deploy Herro off the bench, but he was - as Spoelstra oftentimes says - ignitable."
Tyler Herro returned from a rib injury after missing 15 games and scored a team-high 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting in 23 minutes off the bench, often staggered with Norman Powell. The Heat outscored the Hawks 71-46 in the second half, shooting 56.9 percent over the final 24 minutes, making eight of 17 threes and committing only two turnovers. Bam Adebayo had 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists; Powell added 15 and Kel'el Ware recorded a 14-point, 12-rebound double-double. Atlanta hit 16 of 38 threes but shot 37.5 percent overall, with just 5-of-30 on non-rim twos. Jalen Johnson posted a 16-16-11 triple-double while Onyeka Okongwu scored 22 and both CJ McCollum and Nickeil Alexander-Walker scored 20 each. The Hawks' bench struggled to match Miami's depth and energy.
