"It is really important to us because of all the older players that came before us and what we are trying to do now,"
"The Globetrotetters have so much rich history from the slam dunk alley-oop, getting through segregation, and being one of the first organizations to allow African Americans to play the game of basketball."
"Now in 2026 I'm really honored to be a part of this organization and we have another 100 more years to go,"
The Harlem Globetrotters returned to Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum for the first time since 2017 and won an exhibition game on Saturday, Feb. 21 before an energetic Uniondale crowd. The team is celebrating its 100th anniversary season and showcased family-friendly antics, crafty skill sets and high-energy entertainment. Long-tenured member Cheese Chisholm emphasized the franchise's rich history, including the slam dunk alley-oop, confronting segregation, and expanding opportunities for African American players. The Globetrotters contributed to breaking the NBA color barrier with alumni such as Nat Clifton and Wilt Chamberlain, and earned induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002. The team plans to continue touring and celebrating its legacy.
